we can put 9" ends on the 8.8 and run mosers pressed bearing axle. Axle is actually thicker when used with pressed bearing compared to the c-clip elim counterpart. We can also keep abs but have to do a little machine work. Ive done a ton of these 9" and 8.8's converted to 9" ends...with pictures. Ill put some up.

my FIRST weekend with my new moser axles. (after several years on my stockers with the SAME combo) i vowed to post one of these pictures every time someone asks this question till the day i die after i got off the phone with the rudest customer service rep ever.

a 9" effectively takes an extra 2% drivetrain loss. On a 700hp car thats 14hp to be bulletproof. The reason it robs more power compared to a 8.8 is the centerline location of the pinion. On a 9" its lower than center, thus increasing gear contact (more drag) but more strength.

both 9" or 8.8" can be built to support 900+tq 4000lb race weight .. its all in
the build .. if an 8.8 or 9" is build/setup wrong!! they both can fail with a ton
less Tq/weight on launch!! so depending on the power/tq range it all comes down
to how well it was build and setup in the first place....

the reason i like the 9" over the 8.8 is because of the pinion support in the center section . so the gears are supported compared to be unsupported and wanting to be pushed apart from day one because of no pinion support in the 8.8 . also you can swap gears out faster so with that being said my money went with the 9". ive broken a couple 8.8s in my time granted they werent fully built units support wise but i decided it was time to go 9" for me do to being labeled the best
