Default Front end shimmy

I think I am going nuts. I put track tires on my car a month ago. They were perfect for a week. After a week of having them on the front end started to shimmy a little at 60. (The tires were brand new and I was driving like an old lady getting them ready for a track day) Once I got past 60 it stopped.

I now have them off and have my regular tires back on. Before I put them on I had them balanced. Once again they were perfect for a week. Now they shimmy at 80MPH. I know I did not throw a wheel weight on the track tires, but I have not checked on my all seasons. Any one have any ideas on this?

If there Bias-ply tires, they will get flat spots from sitting. A 10-15 mile ride will smooth them out. Happens all the time...

Ok, after retourqueing all of the wheels. It appears to be gone. thx! I did notice one of my lug nuts on the front is ... loose. Hard to explain. It is torqued down, but you can wiggle it. Left and right like .. hard to explain. Not with your hand but with the wrench. Not sure if you can visualize what I am saying ... but any one ever here of this type of thing? Can the threads in the inside of the nut becomes loose from the outside? I do run three sets of tires and I am always taking them off and putting others on. Maybe I wore it out?

Does anyone think a blower will fix this problem? J/K Anyway that is on my 2 year plan.

if the lugs are chrome capped the cap could just simply be loose on the lug it self which imo is what your seeing

Now I just got to take it out and stretch its legs and see how it is. But I think you nailed it!

Well I tested the torque thing 110% today on a newly paved road. I got the GT up to 130 and back down ... no shimmy!!!! I thing I need to replace that one problem lug nut ... or put on a blower. Hmm I need to check my budget. But some day this Stang will be force fed .. some day ....

Thx 2006f350psd! You da man!
